Mission & History
Founded in 2020 by Cherelys Dwarka Sing, HSKH was created to address educational gaps in STEM across Suriname. Since then, it has reached over 10,000 young people through hands-on programs, workshops, and partnerships with local and international organizations, expanding its impact across multiple districts while promoting digital inclusion and youth empowerment.

Country Information
Suriname faces significant challenges in access to quality STEM education, particularly in rural and underserved communities. Limited availability of digital tools, internet connectivity, and training opportunities restricts youth development, while girls remain underrepresented in technology fields. These gaps highlight the need for initiatives that expand access to practical digital and STEM skills, improving opportunities for education, employment, and entrepreneurship.
The Need
To address the digital divide in Suriname, where many underprivileged and rural youth lack access to STEM education, technology, and training. This limits their opportunities for employment and participation in the digital economy, especially for girls who remain underrepresented in STEM fields. Expanding inclusive, accessible learning opportunities is essential to improve skills, confidence, and future prospects.
The Project We Fund
The project, Project LEAP, empowers 200 underprivileged youth in Suriname through a two-month program combining STEM bootcamps, online learning, and mentorship in coding, robotics, and digital skills. It aims to reduce digital inequality while building problem-solving, leadership, and innovation capacities among participants.
Volunteer game-changers can support by mentoring youth, assisting in workshops, guiding team projects, sharing career insights, and helping deliver digital literacy sessions—playing a key role in motivating and preparing participants for future opportunities.
The Result
The project’s expected results focus on measurable improvements in digital skills, learning outcomes, and youth engagement among 200 direct beneficiaries. Progress is tracked through attendance, participation, completed coding projects, and assessment improvements, alongside feedback from students, mentors, and trainers.
Overall, the project aims to equip participants with practical STEM, digital, and problem-solving skills, boosting their confidence, teamwork, and readiness for future education, employment, and entrepreneurial opportunities.
