Mission & History

Toti Diversidade is a remarkable Brazilian platform with a mission that warms the heart: education and inclusion of refugees and migrants in the technology sector.

Founded in 2019, Toti Diversidade focuses on empowering these individuals by offering free technology training programs specifically designed to enhance employability. But here’s the cool part: the content is tailored to fit the Brazilian job market.
Toti Diversidade provides refugees and migrants the ins and outs of web development, coding, and all things tech-related.
They also ensure that professionals are well-prepared to meet the technical and behavioral demands of the technology such as collaborating, communicating, and thriving in diverse environments. They set up shop in the vibrant city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with palm trees, samba rhythms, and a dash of carnival spirit—all while making a positive impact.

Country Information

Brazil hosts around 1.8 million refugees and migrants, primarily from Latin America and Africa, such as Venezuela, Haiti, Colombia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola, and Guinea-Bissau. They face challenges like limited employment opportunities, language barriers, and difficulties with social integration, education, and healthcare. Despite legal protections, many struggle with discrimination and the recognition of foreign qualifications.

Toti Diversidade addresses these issues by offering vocational training in technology and related fields, improving employability and social inclusion. Their initiatives not only enhance economic independence but also promote diversity and multiculturalism in Brazil by showcasing the talents and contributions of refugees and migrants.

The Need in 2026

The pressing need addressed by Toti involves the high unemployment rates and economic challenges faced by refugees and migrants in Brazil. These individuals often find it difficult to secure formal employment due to language barriers and limited access to job networks. Toti’s initiatives aim to bridge this gap by providing high-quality tech education and job placement support, thereby empowering refugees and migrants to achieve economic stability and enhance their social integration.

The Project We Fund

Toti’s project focuses on expanding its model to train and integrate professionals into the job market through intensive bootcamps in Data Analysis, Full Stack, and Entrepreneurship. The program combines technical training with socio-emotional skill development and job search preparation. The goal is to enhance the employability and socio-economic development of 150 individuals, especially targeting socially vulnerable groups, including Black people, women, and transgender individuals.

The Result

The project include training 150 participants, certifying 112, with a strong focus on inclusivity (50% Black and Brown participants and 50% women). The program aims for a minimum attendance rate of 75% and a 30% employability rate post-training. By fostering connections through recruitment fairs and continuous monitoring, the project seeks to ensure high participant satisfaction and effective integration into the job market.
