The Technology for Opportunities and Transformation Initiative (Toti), supported by Think Human Fund, embarked on an ambitious mission in Brazil to empower refugees and migrants through education in technology. Over the past 6 months, Toti has become a beacon of hope and a vital tool in bridging the digital divide. The program identified 161 eager participants and focused on skills crucial to the modern workforce, offering courses in Fullstack Development, UX/UI, and Technical Support.
Toti’s structured program of 475 instructional hours has uplifted its participants, equipping them with practical skills and a heightened sense of self-worth and belonging. With impressive results, the program boasted an average participant performance score of 89, with the majority exceeding an 80-point threshold. The program’s collaborative approach, prioritizing the inclusion of women and minorities, saw a remarkable turnout and participation rate, surpassing initial goals with 104% registration and 107% participant selection. This comprehensive educational effort is not merely an academic triumph but a personal and community victory, empowering individuals to step into the workforce with confidence and capability—and to foster change.
The ripple effect of Toti’s success extends beyond individual participants. As they embark on their professional journeys, graduates are experiencing enhanced job prospects and strengthened community bonds, creating a network poised to support future cohorts. This initiative’s success story exemplifies how concerted efforts in education and community building can produce significant, sustainable change.
